Service and Social Justice

Newman Club emphasizes the opportunity for service and looks for challenges within the community to serve.

The times call us to something more. . .something new. . .life will only be different if we commit ourselves to offering hope and possibilities to everyone. . . Campus ministry in the Diocese of Pueblo has a strong history of service to our communities and the world beyond the campus. We strive to help students discover and develop their “giftedness’, so they will be empowered to use their gifts for the good of others.

Annual Service Opportunities!

  • Community Homeless Shelter
  • Alternative Spring Break
  • Crop Walk
  • Habitat for Humanity
  • Alternative Christmas Fair
  • Adopt a Family
  • Hunger Banquet
  • Speakers Forums

Our faith calls us to “work for the common good”.  We constantly grow in faith and strength to follow in Christ’s footsteps and the students on our campus have grown by sharing of themselves. Our campus ministry helps students to discern their call to service. We connect students with authentic opportunities that interest them and we also resource them during discernment toward possible permanent calls to serve within the church. We always provide listening ears to whatever vocation seems to fit their desires and gifts!

We like to share in the work of the Alternative Christmas Fair, Habitat for Humanity, Inter campus Service Weekends, and other opportunities.

Our Newman Center is provided by the Diocese of Pueblo to serve the students, faculty and staff of Mesa State College.  We focus on offering opportunities to make friends, do service projects and worship together.  We are here to help students meet the unique challenges present in a college setting by experiencing the support of a caring community.
